Dog Policy

Sorry NO Dogs

Why We Have A NO DOG Policy At Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park

AND FOR ME ONE OF THE MOST VITAL REASONS … NO RESTRICTIONS

The first question to ask yourself when travelling to the Grampians is: What is it what draws you to the Grampians! Now we know that most who visit us are outgoing, nature lovers, who want to explore during the day and enjoy a campfire at night. Bringing dogs to the Grampians will really restrict you on making the most out of your holidays. It is like having kids. Sometimes it is just nice to leave them home! (I stipulate sometimes!)

WILDLIFE

Emus, kangaroos and even deer are often found roaming in the park. In fact the Grampians is their home. It can be very disturbing to see a dog attack wildlife or the other way around! Yes we have seen an emu chasing a dog and that’s is SCARY, I promise!

BARKING

Just imagine the following. You love your dog! You are sitting, with a cuppa tea, enjoying the stunning mountains which surround this park. One dog owner decided to leave the dog behind whilst exploring. Which is extremely disrespectful but I guarantee you, it does happen! Your dog starts barking too and before you know it the whole parks is barking. It is not exactly what you had visualised when you decided to come and enjoy some peace in the Grampians. It brings unnecessary uncontrollable tension & disruption.

DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN NATIONAL PARKS

See attached the factsheet

Caravan Parks often do not allow dogs to be unattended and on top of all that it is a criminal offence to leave a dog in a hot car. I personally don’t see any win wins!

For Every Problem There Is A Solution!

Clearly we would love you to come and visit us at Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park! We tried to work out some solutions for you:

DOG SITTER

Try to find a dog sitter back at home. That way your beautiful animal can stay in its own surrounds and you can enjoy a well-deserved break to the Grampians. We sell some yummy Great Ocean Road Chocolates and organic soap from Alexander, so you can always bring a little pressie home for the dog sitter!

BOOK A KENNEL

If you are on the road and want to continue your journey why not leave the dog in one of the kennels along the way. We list some of your options

STAWELL

Call Geoff at Grampians Pet Resort in Stawell. A single dad with 4 children. The kids adore dogs and play with them! Overnight stay $18 if you bring your own food and $20 if Geoff has to supply the food. The pens are large and have their own outdoor runs! When hot your gorgeous pet will be cooled down with private air-con! Fancy!

ARARAT

Call Phil & Leanne at Plumtree Boarding Kennel

Phil stipulated the necessity of the C5 vaccination and its paperwork. They have two separate areas with pens. One area has its own outdoor runs, but this is only for the “non barkers”, as this area is located right next to the office. The noisy dogs have their own pen, and will be able to have some outdoor fun in the exercise yard twice a day. They charge $16.00 if you bring your own food and $18 if you like Phil & Leanne to supply it!
