Sitting on the verandah of my duck egg coloured lodge eating my dinner, the BBQ still warm, I am suddenly surrounded by an inquisitive, but not intrusive, yellow crested cockatoo. Far the far corner of my eye I can see a family of kangaroos – my inner child leaps. My arrival at Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park was greeted by emus. This isn’t my usual accommodation experience.
