“You don’t know how strong you are, until being strong is the last choice you have”

What is your position at Halls Gap Lakeside?

My position is housekeeper.

How did you get a job at Halls Gap Lakeside?

I was job searching in the Halls Gap area and decided to hand in one at Lakeside. Luckily at this certain point in time they were actually looking for another house keeper and here I am.

What was your first impression?

When I walked through the door it was a nice atmosphere. I was greeted in a really friendly way and everyone that I spoke to was nice to talk to and helpful. And on another note….it’s huge and so well kept.

How long have you been working at Halls Gap Lakeside?

I started in July 2016

Where were you born?

Stawell, Victoria and still live there.

What does the Grampians mean to you?

The Grampians is a great place. Heaps of things to do. Great atmosphere and place for tourists to come and stay for a while and check out. Lovely views, walks, fishing at Lake Bellfield, activities and eateries. Plenty of lovely happy faces. I still have a lot of the Grampians to explore myself.

What makes you smile?

What makes me smile?… my partner, family and friends make me smile. My two dogs Lily and Twitch. I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have them in my life. Seeing someone happy makes me smile. Being able to make someone smile makes me smile and so much more. I could keep going on, but I won’t.

What is your favourite treat? (Just in case people want to leave a present for you!)

I love chocolate. Cadbury is my favourite. Lately I have been loving jubes but I’m trying to control myself with my treats.

What is your favourite quote?

“You don’t know how strong you are, until being strong is the last choice you have”

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a child I wanted to be a vet. I love animals!

How would you describe yourself, 5 words?

Quiet, until you get to know me.

Fun to be around.

What will you be when you grow up ?

Monster truck driver, just kidding. I actually have no idea, but I still hope to be working here for quite a while yet.

How would you describe working at Halls Gap Lakeside?

I’m enjoying working at Halls Gap Lakeside. It’s a great environment to work in. Nice staff, good hours and I keep busy which is something that I like to do.

How do your colleagues describe you?

I think they find me quiet so far. But that’s a guess. I believe that they find me a good worker and a nice person also. I hope haha.

What languages do you speak?

Back in School I learned German, but that was a while ago. I can only remember a few words in German now. Its been too long. Other than that, English.

If you were to get some time off, what do you like doing?

I enjoy my exercise. There are some great walks in the Grampians and it’s a tradition never to leave Halls Gap without an ice cream from Coolas.  I love camping, fishing and spending time with my family, partner and pets and of course, shopping.

The old cliché what is your favourite dinner

I love a roast in the winter with veggies and gravy. But then who doesn’t. Yum.

Your absolute favourite walk in the Grampians?

I love the Pinnacle. Iv’e only been once but I would love to go more often. I have been for a couple of different walks around Halls Gap, I still have heaps to check out.

As a local what is your that secret little thing you don’t really want to tell people about, but you are!

I won’t answer this, because I really don’t have an answer for it. Oh dear.
